Someone said, “Isn’t it time for him to grow up and get a real job?”
A real job. These boys are on call 24/7, 365. They are nationally certified. State certified. They are certified for so many classes it would make your head spin. They are EMTs. They are a huge pillar of the community. They don’t get paid. They don’t get sick days, vacation, or at times even the luxury of a full night of sleep. Except for major cities, they are all volunteer. I regularly have cancelled plans, missed dates, and an empty bed because he is busy saving lives and material possessions of others. Weekends are spent volunteering, doing fundraisers, and helping the community.
This isn’t just a hobby. This is not a part time job.
